I WASN'T able to catch the entire State of the Nation Address of the presidentita today as I was much too busy attending to family errands. (Anyhoo, I'll read the transcript in a bit.)
Besides I had read an earlier draft of her speech and knew she would not make any categorical statements about stepping down as president when her term ends, unlike Tita Cory in her last SONA in 1991. To everyone - except her sipsip congressmen and supporters - announcing that she would not seek the highest post in the land via Charter Change or other dubious means would have made today's speech her best SONA ever. As usual, we the Filipino people, are not so lucky.

But it's interesting to note the comments/status messages of many of my friends on Facebook about it. I'm publishing some of them here, but withhold their identities for obvious reasons.
From Dako Tin-og: puro thank you congress to, a. state of the nation address ba ito or opening ceremony ng gma-congress mutual fan club?
Grace: a year is a VERY long time if she's president
Tangkad: [I] was so impressed with SONA. IDOL KO SI GMA!!!!!
Hanky: "Don't say bad words in public." OK, only in private. Tangnamu.
Fried rice: SONAmabitz!
And the best one so far:
Esprit de Corps: Ano ang kaibhan ng FAIRY TALE at ng SONA? Ang fairy tale ay kwentong 'di totoo na may duwende. Ang SONA ay may duwende na nagkukuwento ng 'di totoo. :)
(to be updated)
My own reaction: BITAYIN! ang gumawa ng SONA gown ni GMA. (Ano sya, feeling Nanay Dionisia?) :p
(UPDATE 7:12 pm) OH how sad! I was just told that it was Inno Sotto who designed the presidentita's 'french fries' gown. Ay caramba!

Bigger fish to fry

GMA: We're not out to scrap elections
TOKYO – President Arroyo broke her silence yesterday amid speculations that she is bent on prolonging her stay in power through the Charter change efforts of her allies in the House of Representatives.
Mrs. Arroyo said she was not moving “to scrap the elections” next year but stressed she believed the Constitution needs to be amended for political and economic reforms.
“We are not out to scrap the elections,” Mrs. Arroyo told reporters here when asked to comment on last week’s anti-Charter change rally in Makati City. (Click here for the rest.)
Owwwwz?

From the horse's ass himself
Gonzalez: 'I think Arroyo will run again'
MANILA - President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo will run again in May 2010 if efforts to change the form of government from presidential to parliamentary through a constituent assembly succeed, according to newly appointed Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez.
In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, the former justice secretary said he believes that Arroyo will run for a parliamentary seat in Pampanga so she could be elected as Prime Minister in 2010 in case the current efforts to change the charter through a Senate-less constituent assembly materialize.
"I will not be surprised if the President will run as Member of Parliament," Gonzalez said. (Click ABS-CBN News.)
IF this isn't the clearest statement yet about the Presidentita's intentions, I don't know what else there is to say. To those who still doubt the congressmen's motives about HR 1109/Con-Ass, that's your proof right there.

I attended the rally versus HR 1109/Con-Ass and Charter Change (Cha-Cha) yesterday, in Makati City. Here are some images from the protest action. Anyone who says the rally didn't gather enough participants should get some spectacles.

Unless you guys are hiding under a rock
YOU should be watching right now on ANC how pro-Cha-Cha congressmen are trying to railroad the approval of House Resolution 1109 which will convene Congress into a Constituent Assembly. This will allow them to push for changes in the 1987 Constitution to keep the presidentita in power.
History repeating itself! GMA doing a Marcos! Kawawang Pilipinas.

(Do you want this face to keep ruining your day for the next 20 years?)
(UPDATE 11:30 PM 06/02/09) Resolution is approved. Bloody hell. Congressmen to cha-cha after receiving their ka-ching, ka-ching! Click House OK's Con-ass

Ebola in your pork
OKAY, I'm really swearing off pork now. Sure, I've said it before, and have fallen off the wagon since Christmas last year (ang sarap kasi ng jamon!), but this time I truly, sincerely mean it.
So the Dept. of Agriculture is saying that the ebola reston virus is only specific to hogs. It won't transfer to humans and infect us like the ebola virus which makes people literally bleed through every orifice in their head (nose, mouth, eyes). But the ebola virus that broke out in the African continent, if you recall, was transmitted via animals (birds, reptiles, amphibians) as well. One gets infected if he is exposed to contaminated blood of these animals.
What is troubling is that the ebola reston virus, is actually airborne. So potentially, it could be more fatal. Btw, didn't they say that the mad cow disease was specific to cows also? And yet so many people died from mad cow disease after eating tainted beef.
So uh-uh, I'm not taking any chances. I'm quitting pork.
* * * *
SO why are some people raising a fuss about MAR Roxas cussing in public? and against the Cha-cha? E nainis sya talaga, so WTF?! I know some people in Malacañang who use cuss words worse than your P*****I**, and in Spanish at that!
Tigilan mo na' yang drama mo, Jess Dureza. You're just trying to divert attention from the real issue, w/c is the evil, diabolical, and sinister Cha-Cha move of your amo the presidentita and her minions. Talk about "stooping so low"...I think engaging in corrupt activities like this government has, and the presidentita trying to extend her term beyond Constitutional limits are even lower and more foul than MAR using crude language.
P*****I** talaga!
