Chillax muna!

OKAY, we're all worked up again bec. of this latest dining scandal of the presidentita. We need to relax a little before our blood pressures do us in. Thankfully, I stumbled on to this tune while listening to my favorite online lounge radio station. It's called Face of Beauty by Lovers Lane. And I just love it because there are voiceovers that mention Boracay. So I searched for it on YouTube hoping to find a video.

This is especially dedicated to my buddy, Pangs (aka Kasabad), who has been hyperventilating again over his presidentita's dining escapades, and a few other issues I am not at liberty to discuss here. So okay, altogether now...breathe in, breathe out, and click!



Btw, Lovers Lane is composed of Ansgar Üffink (aka Vargo) and Bruno Lepretre (aka DJ Bruno, official DJ of the sunset bar Café Del Mar in Ibiza). The original mix can be heard on the duo's Island Memories CD. These guys know their beaches, that's for sure.

According to nmolff, another guy who posted the same song on YouTube: "while on a gig in boracay on the phillipines, bruno recorded some natives talking on the beach and put that in the song. roughly translated, it says: 'the face of beauty appears in every step, every sunrise, every ray of sun that kisses my face.'"

He was very big in the 1960s until he converted to Islam in 1977, dropping out of sight at the height of his fame. I grew up listening to his music because of my older siblings. He then changed his name to Yusuf Islam.

With a new album launched, he appears on The Colbert Nation, where host Stephen Colbert, conducts a hilarious yet insightful interview of Yusuf. He talks about leaving the entertainment industry, converting to Islam, and says the first word a Muslim learns is "Salaam" or peace.

Here's a blast from the past to set you grooving for the weekend partying... I watched the original Earth, Wind & Fire perform here in Manila at the ULTRA Pasig, sometime 1988 I think, during its "Touch the World tour". Amazing, amazing performance and boy, Phil Bailey and Maurice White were really something back then. And the splendiferous threads...hwaw! say mo, Chuvaness?

Btw there is great concert on DVD of EWF playing back-to-back with Chicago. Try to get a hold of a copy (pwera pirated ha, bad); that one truly brings the house down.

New and improved (or should say old and comforting?)

AS I was revving up Pop's car a few days ago, I channel surfed on the FM radio for something to listen to. To my surprise, Joey 92.3 FM, which used to play lounge music, has now been rebranded as 92.3 xFM.

The songs just brought me back to my high school days when Brother Wayne (Enage) was still on the air playing jazz fusion on KissFM. 92.3 xFM's station ID is so apt: "Light 'N Up", because the music is smooth and cool, just the kind of tunes you'd want to listen to while driving or while reminiscing about your first kiss...uuuuy!

I hardly ever listen to local radio as I am always so turned off by talking heads, DJs in their fake American accents stupidly discussing the issues of the day as if they were the FM versions of their counterparts on AM. Duh. Now we just have great old comforting jazz/crossover music on 92.3. Luvit!

Still figuring out how to import the station on iTunes. But for now, just click here. It works best on Windows Media Player. (Now if we can only get Brother Wayne and his partners to reopen Jazzbox, the world will be a better place to live in.)
