MANILA, Philippines -- It’s the presidency or nothing for Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., his wife, Tarlac Representative Monica Louise Prieto-Teodoro, said.
Mrs. Teodoro said “powerful people,” businessmen, and members of civil society had been talking to her husband and had pledged to back him up in his bid to become the country’s next president in the May 2010 elections. (Click here for the rest.)
KAPAL, is what I wanna say.
Seriously now, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro seems like a genuinely nice guy, a real gentleman according to my media colleagues who've covered him in his present and previous jobs in and out of government. In fact, I want to meet him and ask him about his plans for our country's future.
But as usual, it's the wife we're all worried about, innit? I wonder if it's true that San Miguel chair and NPC head Danding Cojuangco didn't want to throw his full financial muscle behind Teodoro, his nephew, partly because of Nikki? After all, she isn't anything like how a presidentiable's wife should behave, right Tita Gretchen? (Oppen ha, not Barreto! ngek)
Should we be shaking in our boots over Nikki, compared to MAR's Ms. K? I wonder...hmmm.
